Job Title: Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor-Lead Mechanic

Full Time position - 40 hours per week

Salary: $58,000/year

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

The ideal candidate will have an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) line of certifications or 4+ years auto mechanic experience. Strong vehicle diagnostics and repair knowledge and strong maintenance and technical experience in a shop environment. A minimum of 3 years' experience as a shop foreman, team lead, or shop supervisor and 2+ years supervisor experience.

Leisure World of Maryland Corporation, the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, located in Silver Spring, Maryland, is a private, age restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 5,600 homes and extensive Trust operations.

We are seeking an experienced Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor-Lead Mechanic to oversee our fleet of vehicles. This position will ensure that the repair facility is operated under the guidelines of OSHA requirements and will oversee the day-to-day operations, including directing the activities of personnel responsible for vehicle repairs, fuel purchase/billing and direct communication with trade foreman.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance (i.e., oil changes, tire rotations and/or replacements, brakes and rotors, etc.), component replacements and minor repairs, and performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
  • Works in accordance with all federal/state and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT)
  • Maintain equipment to desired performance levels.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner maintaining high quality standards.
  • Keep management informed of safety, operator and equipment observations and concerns.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • A commitment to safety, with a focus on ensuring that the LWMC vehicles are repaired and maintained to the highest standards.
  • Follow all required work safety practices.
  • Courteously interacts with internal customers, ensuring customers are serviced in a professional and timely manner.
  • Responsible for repairs of all vehicles as per Maryland State requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of the repair facility
  • Purchase and disposal of all Leisure World of Maryland owned vehicles with approval from supervisor
  • Maintain and repair fuel dispensers for vehicles.
  • Yearly inspections of pumps and fuel tanks to adhere to Maryland State requirements & regulations.
  • Purchase diesel and gasoline fuel for Leisure World of Maryland.
  • Reconcile and generate a monthly bill of fuel used by Leisure World vehicles, outside contractors and submit to the Accounting Office.
  • Send monthly reports to the State for fuel usage to show no discrepancy of fuel leakage.
  • Submit request for check/payment of purchases for repair facility/fuel/parts for vehicles and send to the Accounting Office

LICENSE

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) line of certifications or four (4) years or more auto mechanic experience
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates, Technical School, or an accredited automotive repair school or equivalent vocation program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • The Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor-Lead Mechanic directly manages vehicle maintenance employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this team.
  • Address identified areas of need and ensure delivery of consistent performance standards.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees: planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
